Tuning in a Samsung smart TV

THE GIST
Samsung sets run Tizen, so players come from Samsung’s store; IBO Player Pro and Smarters turn up on many models. Certain apps are activated by the television’s MAC address, not a username. No player for your model? Plug in a streaming stick and use that instead.
- Which apps appear depends on the set's model year.
- Some apps charge their developer a small one-off activation fee.
- Any Samsung with HDMI can take a Fire stick or Google TV Streamer.
1. Open the app store
Press Home, choose Apps and use the search icon.
2. Look for a player
Try IPTV Smarters Pro or IBO Player Pro. What appears depends on the model year.
3. Sign in or activate
- Smarters: choose Xtream Codes, then server, username and password.
- Apps that activate by MAC: their first screen lists the MAC plus a device key. Photograph it and send it to us; we link your rental to it.
4. Restart the app
Close it fully and reopen so the channels and listings load.
No player on your set? Plug in a Fire stick instead and follow that guide.

Where is my Samsung's MAC address?
Inside the network status screen (under General or Connection), the IP or network info page shows it; activation apps also display it when first opened.
My player app vanished from the Samsung store.
Samsung adds and removes third-party players from time to time. Already-installed apps usually keep working.
