Editorial standards

Each fact names its source and its date, and opinion is labelled as ours. Software, AI writing aids among it, can help us draft and proofread, yet no page goes live before a person has verified the facts. Errors get fixed and the page date moves on.
Our sources
- Programmes: TVmaze (dates, series and episode counts), CC BY-SA 4.0. The channel a show first aired on comes from broadcast history and is checked by hand, because TVmaze lists a show’s current home.
- Films: Apple’s British iTunes listings for rating, length and that day’s price; the year shown is the original cinema release.
- Sport: fixtures from TheSportsDB; broadcast deals from the rights owners and the trade press, cited at the foot of every sport page.
- ITV regions: published broadcasting history; dates are when each company first went on air.
- Law and money: the statute book at legislation.gov.uk, the regulators and court reporting, each linked with a date.
Opinions
“Why it is worth your time” sections and recommendations are written by the BritCast TV team. Nobody pays for a mention, and earnings never decide an order.
Dates and corrections
Guides carry their last-checked date at the top. If something is wrong, tell [email protected] and it is fixed inside two working days.
Software and AI
Scripts gather the data and test spelling and links; AI tools sometimes produce a first draft. A human then compares every claim with the sources listed here before publishing.
Lines we do not cross
Invented reviews, made-up numbers, promises of being “100% legal”, or saying a title is available without first checking: none of these, ever.
