THE GIST

LG’s webOS sets get their apps from LG’s store (called simply Apps on recent models), where players like IBO Player Pro and Smarters are often available. A few key on the set’s MAC address rather than any password, and we can link that to your rental.

  • Search LG's store from the Home dashboard.
  • OLED sets make a good HD stream look superb.
  • Nothing suitable in LG’s store? Use a streaming stick instead.

1. Open LG’s app store

Home on the Magic Remote, then Apps; older models call it LG Content Store.

2. Choose a player

Try IBO Player Pro first, Smarters second.

3. Add your details

Xtream Codes apps take the three log-in details. Apps that display a MAC and a key want activating: photograph that screen and we will do it.

4. Check the listings

Tune to any British channel and bring up the guide. Nothing there? See the programme guide fixes.

A tip for OLED owners: Cinema or Filmmaker mode gives the most natural colours; save the game modes for consoles.

People also ask

How is an LG’s MAC address found?
Look in All settings under General (Support on some sets), then About this TV. Use the wired or wireless address that matches how the set connects.
Will the number buttons change channel?
In most players, yes; some need number-key channel changing switched on in their settings.
