BE KIND, REWINDThe Shining is a 1980 horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick, certificate 15, 144 minutes long. To own it on Apple TV in the UK cost £4.99 on 14 October 2026, or £3.49 to rent.
Jack Nicholson takes a winter caretaker job at the empty Overlook Hotel. Partly filmed at Elstree in Hertfordshire, it is cold, precise and gets more unsettling with every rewatch.
Films are sold and rented on Apple TV, Prime Video and other stores, and turn up on subscription services and free channels from time to time. Paying the rights holder keeps archives alive and pays the people who made them.
The BritCast TV library changes with sources and rights, so we never promise a title before checking. Ask us and we will look, or try a day free and search for yourself.
